CAMERAS
For all my digital photography I use a Panasonic DMC-FZ10 and FZ-20 which
I am convinced are some of the best digital cameras out there in their price range.
They only have 4.0 Megapixel and 5.0 Megapixel resolution, but that is more than enough resolution
for my 13x19 prints, as they have the larger, higher qualioty sensors. But it is the very true color reproduction that impresses me. Time and again I am able to print out photos without any use of PhotoShop for color correction.
I am not so much one for bragging about my equipment, or trying
to convince anyone this camera is the best or next to the best,
etc. I feel the photography should speak for itself. If it is
good, then it is most likely a combination of good equipment,
a good eye for composition and lighting, and that should be
enough. I always have plenty of data storage along on my trips, using a portable CD writer for downloads.
PRINTERS
I print on the new Canon i9900, which has a format
of 13x19 inches maximum. I can print to various types of photopaper
and canvas. The inks have an archival lifespan of about 27 years, when combined with UV protective glass.
The i9900 comes with a full range of 8 color inks, with dedicated
red and green inks, which provide a rich full color spectrum especially
when printing pictures of landscapes and water. Believe it or
not, water photography uses a lot of greens in providing
proper reproductions of the various colors of water.
If you have any further questions about how I attain the look in any of
my photos, please feel free to ask!
